#201. On the Seine near Poissy.

  15 x 21.5, oil on cradled panel. "Gilbert Munger" lower left. This painting shows the same scene as #135 and #109. This version is shown as the plate facing page 12 in the 1904 Munger Memoir. Munger's floating studio can be seen tied to the river bank. The picture descended in Munger's family via brother Roger until 2001, when it was sold to a California collector. A label on the back states: "Exhibited April 5, 1960, Tweed Museum, loaned by Miss Silvey." Another label with a red border on the back shows "No. 4, 15 x 21 1/2, Seine Near Poissy, Gilbert Munger." The catalog for the 1888 - 1889 Winter Exhibition of the Hanover Gallery, London, lists "No. 4 Near Poissy", which may be this painting. QFD Pl.54. Tweed 2003 Exhibition n.56.
